Public broadcasters will be able to make their own programs available on the internet for longer than before. ARD, ZDF and deutschlandradio are also to be given more freedom in their editorial offerings on the internet.
The minister presidents agreed on this at a meeting in saarbrucken on friday. Rhineland-palatinate’s head of government, malu dreyer (SPD), who heads the broadcasting commission of the states, also called on the broadcasters to make more stringent savings.
With regard to their savings plans, which ARD, ZDF and deutschlandradio presented in their reports to the broadcasting commission at the end of september, she said: "we praise this as a first step, but we are not satisfied. But it must go on. We need more mabreakdowns and reform steps to actually put us in a better position."
